Ask anyone on Jenna's rec league team what she's like and you'll get the same answer: loud, funny, takes the other team's formation personally in a way a rec league probably doesn't require. What most of them don't know is who's actually been running the team's group chat behind the scenes.
There's a spreadsheet. Nobody asked for it, nobody remembers agreeing to it, and yet somehow every teammate's birthday, dietary restriction, and snack-rotation slot is logged in there, color-coded, updated the same week someone joins.
It started the way most of these things start, with a problem nobody planned to fix. Second week of the season, snacks fell through because two people both assumed the other one had it covered. Half the team ate a single sleeve of crackers somebody found in a gym bag. Jenna didn't say much about it at the time. She just went home and built a schedule that night.
“She didn't say much about it at the time. She just went home and built a schedule that night.”
It's the same intensity that shows up on the field, just aimed somewhere nobody expects it. She'll argue with you for twenty minutes about a missed pass, dead serious, gesturing like the call actually mattered, and then quietly reorganize the whole snack rotation that same evening because someone mentioned a dairy allergy in passing three weeks ago and she never forgot it.

Nobody found out about the spreadsheet for almost half a season. It surfaced by accident, someone glanced at her phone waiting for a ride and there it was, tabs and all, a full roster of birthdays going back further than anyone realized she'd been paying attention. The team has never let her live it down, and she has never once admitted to updating it since. It gets updated constantly.
“The team has never let her live it down, and she has never once admitted to updating it since. It gets updated constantly.”
That's the part that doesn't make it into the usual story about her, the loud one, the one with opinions about formations she has no business having opinions about. Underneath that is someone who has quietly made sure nobody on that team has ever spent their birthday without at least one person noticing.

Ask her about the spreadsheet and she'll deny it exists. It exists. Everyone's seen it.
