Two weeks ago the answer to almost everything was warm light and soft edges. This week, on purpose, it wasn't.

Katerina's Studio Noir set set the tone early: a stark room, one hard light, nothing warm about it, chosen specifically because the softer default would have undercut the whole idea. Evelyn's set followed a similar instinct in a more practical register, breaking an outfit down piece by piece instead of leaning on one flattering angle to sell the whole look. Today's portrait with Isolde closes the week the same way it opened, color stripped out entirely because the shot didn't earn its keep with it left in.

None of this is a permanent shift. Next week probably swings back toward something warmer. But it's worth saying out loud: restraint was the actual choice this week, not a fallback for when the light didn't cooperate. Less to hide behind usually means more has to be right.
